Unsnowed Out

17 inches of snow, at least half of which happened while I was at work. I was snowed in there for about 28 hours, then had to stay at Mom's until I had a day off to shovel out parking at home. Now, I'm back home, and unsnowed out, as it were, but I'm not sure if I'm glad or not. I really need a job and apartment, preferably out of Lafayette.

So sad, the last week or so... and now my friend has gone to Mississippi indefinitely, taking her adorable freckles and irreplaceable companionship from me :( Now, I don't blame her, 'cause I know her family needs her more, I just miss her.

So confused. I haven't met any new people on OkCupid, but one guy I thought was gone and another who freaked when I mentioned a second date reappeared, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do know that I'm sad to have lost touch with a third though, and hope that changes in the near future.

ON THE HAPPIER SIDE:

So amazed, by this artist and project. A very nice range of subjects, and statements.

So tempted - Don't you want to see Kris in a Wicked Weasel Bikini? Donate here :)
(Props to Dean for the idea, and Doug for the photo post. $14.50 to go, as of Dean's last update)
(Speaking of seeing scantily clad women, I'm still hoping to see SxKitten in the Global O Thong, hint, hint)
So amused, SxKitten asks, Are You White & Nerdy? I know I'm a sucker for a cute girl in glasses, like my girl Carla above ;)

Can you measure up to Weird Al? Score one point for each yes:

31. Got your name on your underwear? No.

Score one bonus point if you burn without tanning, or anyone has ever said to you “My god, you’re white!” Yes and yes.

Okay, clearly operating on very little sleep and a full dose of randomness at this point :)

Trying New Things

So, I saw a glass etching kit and just had to try it out!

The upward circles did not survive the pre-etch cleaning... I'm trying to come up with an alternate pattern.

The etch was thick and lumpy. It's the first time I've used a cream etch, all my previous etching experience was in a printmaking studio, where I mixed it myself.

I only had enough to etch the smaller glasses, and not as evenly as I would have ideally hoped. Overall, though, I like them, and will finish the set.

The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul

Which is a great book, really. However, the title is brilliant, and I am hereby borrowing it. Not feeling very brilliant, in and of myself currently. I know it's a combination of the sudden wintry turn here in Indiana, and the continuing misery that is me at work. Still, happy thoughts...
Okay, maybe not. I wanted to post a picture of the dragonfruit I bought, but I cannot find the cable to my external hard drive :( Nor can I find the negatives from my mutant fruit phase... Clearly a sign that I'm not meant to post pictures tonight. It reminds me of my friend Caleb, and his theory that sometimes inanimate objects have it out for you... I actually found a word for that :) "RESISTENTIALISM - Seemingly spiteful behaviour manifested by inanimate objects." (Lifted from here...)
What do you do, times when things seem to be all against you?

I Need Rescued

Hopefully, I can put up a real blog post soon, but for the moment, just a quick line saying a black hole has eaten my life up, my sunshine is shaded by eclipse, whatever metaphor you favor... I'm having trouble finding and maintaining my happy medium again *sigh*

The Winner...

I'm a little behind, right now. Managed to catch my brother's nasty flu :( Still, I have picked a winner for my Orgasm contest. And I think my next contest will not span major holidays, since I hate contributing to stress levels.
Here are the entrants:
Erin O'Brien, with her terrific article in the Cleveland Free Times
(and btw, Erin, you could never be boring! Boring sex never provides orgasms...)
Doug, who was suffering from performance anxiety
I couldn't find any mistletoe for the picture, it was green ribbon... but the raincheck is yours ;)
Dean, who wrote a hot "almost, but not quite entirely, fiction" story
(and who also saw right through me, pointing out "perhaps because GOD [Global Orgasm Day] offered an ideal opportunity to request dirty stories, Renee is offering a prize to whoever writes the best beyond-risque tale involving an orgasm." You didn't mention that the prize was underwear, which amuses me greatly)
sxKitten, who submitted this about having the right partner
Congratulations to sxKitten, who made my heart melt, and renewed my hope that real love exists!
And a big thank you to everyone who entered, and everyone who reads my blog as well :)

2007 Indulgences

The amazing Jennifer Crusie said "I've got the serious resolutions coming up next weekend, the ones where I promise to cook more and take a yoga class and do all that stuff, but it's Christmas and I want to be good to myself, so what if tonight I made kind resolutions, the things I really, really want to do but never get to, the stuff that I'd kill to do but never get to because it's too ridiculous and I have to be Serious About My Life and Career, what if I made my Five Indulgences of 2007?" (And if you haven't read any Jennifer Crusie, run to the bookstore and get you some! She is extraordinary, as are her fans, the Cherries!)
What a neat idea! So naturally, I'm going to give it a try...
Renee's Five Indulgences of 2007
Indulgence #1: A week's vacation in Seattle or California, where I will visit my friends in each place and do touristy things if they appeal. Preferably during a season where the weather there is better than the weather here.
Indulgence #2: a 90 minute, full body massage by Carla's former masseuse. He is part of the reason she went to massage therapy school, and she has nothing but good things to say about him. The last time I visited a masseuse, I found one who spent more time working on my vibrational harmonies than on my aching body. Nice guy, but I was disappointed because what I really needed was a massage.
Indulgence #3: A teacher for digital imaging. Whether it is a college credit class, or just some one-on-one time with someone who really knows the program inside and out, I am tired of trying to teach myself in my spare time.
Indulgence #4: I will take time to paint this year. It horrifies me that I haven't made a painting in more than FIVE years. I will spend the money to update my supplies, and use the canvases my mom got me for Christmas last year. And perhaps I will find a group of artists to work with... I am in envy of the Drawing Club, where every week they hire a model to wear a character costume and draw or paint. Or figure drawing would be good, too.
Indulgence #5: I will adopt two cats this year. Living without cats is a horrible and unnatural existence for me, and when I get my new apartment I will fix this!

You know, this does not seem all that extravagant. It's rather encouraging that overall, I can see myself actually accomplishing these things :)

Happy Holidays

Well, clearly it was time for another picture... I'd offered Doug a holiday greeting (20 days ago! Better late than never, I guess. At least there are boobs...) Erin got naked again, glorious and gorgeous as ever (by the way, it's never a "self absorbed narcissistic existence" when dozens of people are begging for the pictures. Take off all the clothes you want, and post pictures. I promise to enjoy all of them!)

My apologies to George, who inspired the original idea... After seeing my mutant marshmallow snowmen, he was reminded of Krugy, and I tried to get a good picture of a snowman on my cleavage. It just didn't work out; if it was a good picture of me, it was a bad snowman picture and vice versa. (*Note to me - Buy a remote for the digital camera*)

So, here's a pic of just the snowman :)
