10 Random Things About Me

Maybe you want to know, maybe you don't... ~d(tilde) did it, and her friend Valyna, too.
1. What is your favorite word?
I love lots of words, so just one favorite? A real challenge. Resistentialism... Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious... Apolaustic... Callipygian... Chiaroscuro... Evancalous... Kalopsia... Retroussé... Widdershins...

Erin, the embodiment of Callipygian

2. What is your least favorite word?
I hate "reify" and "antidisestablishmentarianism". (Both of which were endlessly used/misused in my college art history classes.)
3. What turns you on?
sex in a warm rainstorm... full figured women... tall men... light colored eyes... men with 2 day stubble... watching people masturbate to orgasm... the way being close enough to certain people makes me weak at the knees...crossdressers... outdoorsy sweat... silk & satin... light bondage... a man's voice like a deep rumbling purr... hearing Carla say "mmmmm"... watching people dance... snug & soft jeans (I am a child of the eighties)... Fatty D... Angelina Jolie's lips and intensity (tho she needs to gain some weight)...

April, the incomparable Fatty D
4. What turns you off?
silicone boobs, especially on rail thin women... chinlessness... pinching... obnoxious body odor... squeaky voiced men... Paris Hilton... visible ribs and/or vertebrae on unmuscular people... my-way-is-the-only-way people... religious zealots
5. What is your favorite curse word?
Nope. I refuse to give any up. Shit-Fuck-Damn are probably the most frequently utilized, though.
6. What sound or noise do you love?
I love listening to cats purr... listening to someone's heart beat with my head on their chest...
7. What sound or noise do you hate?
Any repetitive monotonous sound, especially if high-pitched
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Hmmm... Pleasure Mistress? Orgasm Inducer? I mean I am a painter, writer, and photographer, and I wish I made my living by doing so, but you know, Goddess has a nice ring...
9. What profession would you not like to do?
Security. (Yes, I know.) Truck Driver? Dog Catcher?
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
I'm so sorry. That wasn't at all what I intended. OR The-Bleah-of-Surprise, which would mean Caleb was successful in campaigning for godhood.

Birthday Memorial #2

Billy and I were talking today, and it would have been Trey's birthday. Know what? We still miss you like crazy, damn it.

"You think that the despair will stop you cold, but it doesn't: it wraps itself up in a dark corner somewhere inside and forces the rest of your system to function, to take care of practical matters, which may not be important but which keep you going, which guarantee that you are still, somehow, alive." –Peter Høeg, Smilla’s Sense of Snow

"Poet Mark Doty says: 'Being in grief, it turns out, is not unlike being in love. In both states, the imagination is entirely occupied with one person... Everything that touches us seems to relate back to that center; there is no other emotional life, no place outside the universe of feeling centered on that pivotal figure.'" - quoted by Mary D. Esselman & Elizabeth Ash Velez in _The Hell With Love_ (Poems to Mend a Broken Heart)

Touched

I went to a memorial service tonight. I've worked with J for four years, and he'd been married for over thirty. He walked me out, and asked me to take the advice of an old man, find someone to love, and spend more time with them than at work. He said I deserve better than to be at home alone. He said to never forget that life is very short.

Blogiversary the First

Today is the anniversary of my first post here, yay!
In 365 days, I have managed 52 posts. I was hoping to be more prolific, but will instead comfort myself on the quality of my posts (Right. But it sounds good...)
I am / was hoping to have my new layout up and running today, but have encountered technical issues beyond my ken. Hopefully, one of the people I've asked for assistance will save the day.

I'd be nothing without my blog-friends to inspire and challenge me.
Dean recently posted the completed Nearly Naked Challenge, and Kris looks good in her Weasel!
Dean also reminded us all of Naked Couch Day in honor of "the Patron Saint of Naked Couch Day, Her Holiness Erin O’Brien, the Naked Saint" who started and celebrated this wonderful day. Dean and SxKitten put forth these wonderful pictures, and Doug reimagines a classic photograph. (See? I'll even admit in public that I got it, and was amused by it!) All of which makes me slightly sad that I don't have a wonderful and/or tolerant other half, nor a couch, to fully participate in the festivities. I shall hold up high hopes for next year.

Also on my list of links but less mentioned is the wonderful photographer Henri Banks. Do yourself a favor, go see his work - more is on his Flickr account.

Since Doug has mentioned that he enjoys the percentage of cleavage in my posts, this is my contribution for this post. I'd hate to disappoint anyone ;)

I'd like to incorporate these images into the new template, but that will not happen for a while. I really need to spend several hours with someone who knows their way around page design! Any volunteers? Anyone? Bueller?

On a personal note, I was just promoted at work, and there will be a period of adjustment. I've been (and sadly will continue to be) mostly MIA for a bit.

As you all may know, I'm just crazy about Erin O'Brien. She's giving away a movie on female ejaculation, everyone should enter her raffle. (BTW Erin is so damned hot in that youtube video, you gotta go see!)

Unsnowed Out

17 inches of snow, at least half of which happened while I was at work. I was snowed in there for about 28 hours, then had to stay at Mom's until I had a day off to shovel out parking at home. Now, I'm back home, and unsnowed out, as it were, but I'm not sure if I'm glad or not. I really need a job and apartment, preferably out of Lafayette.

So sad, the last week or so... and now my friend has gone to Mississippi indefinitely, taking her adorable freckles and irreplaceable companionship from me :( Now, I don't blame her, 'cause I know her family needs her more, I just miss her.

So confused. I haven't met any new people on OkCupid, but one guy I thought was gone and another who freaked when I mentioned a second date reappeared, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do know that I'm sad to have lost touch with a third though, and hope that changes in the near future.

ON THE HAPPIER SIDE:

So amazed, by this artist and project. A very nice range of subjects, and statements.

So tempted - Don't you want to see Kris in a Wicked Weasel Bikini? Donate here :)
(Props to Dean for the idea, and Doug for the photo post. $14.50 to go, as of Dean's last update)
(Speaking of seeing scantily clad women, I'm still hoping to see SxKitten in the Global O Thong, hint, hint)
So amused, SxKitten asks, Are You White & Nerdy? I know I'm a sucker for a cute girl in glasses, like my girl Carla above ;)

Can you measure up to Weird Al? Score one point for each yes:

Trying New Things

So, I saw a glass etching kit and just had to try it out!

The upward circles did not survive the pre-etch cleaning... I'm trying to come up with an alternate pattern.

The etch was thick and lumpy. It's the first time I've used a cream etch, all my previous etching experience was in a printmaking studio, where I mixed it myself.

I only had enough to etch the smaller glasses, and not as evenly as I would have ideally hoped. Overall, though, I like them, and will finish the set.
